Interior Health is seeking dynamic Family Physician (FPs) to join our UPCC clinic in Elkford. For physicians interested in a team-based care environment, with a competitive contract, no overhead costs, flexible hours of work and no overnight on-call requirements, then look no further!

Role:

Exciting opportunity in Elkford, B.C. for physicians in our Urgent and Primary Care Centre.

The Elkford Urgent and Primary Care Centre (UPCC) responsibilities involve the provision of comprehensive longitudinal primary care and episodic urgent care. The health center strives to provide culturally and psychologically safe primary care through services provided by the UPCC team members which include family physicians, nurse practitioner, registered nurses, social worker, physiotherapist, medical office assistants, and virtually enabled services. We are integrated with Primary Care Network (PCN) and community services teams who offer mental health, dietetics, diabetic education, community physiotherapy, occupational therapy, home health nursing, public health nursing, and maternity services. The Elkford UPCC is co-located with an IH community lab department and diagnostic x-ray.

The nearest emergency department is in the nearby community of Sparwood. Nearest facility with higher level of care is in Fernie (Elk Valley Hospital).

Physicians working in Elkford qualify for locum coverage through the Rural Locum Program for British Columbia (43 days/year).

Long term locum opportunities are also available during the recruitment period.

Hours of work: Flexible

On-call requirements: No overnight on-call requirements

Qualifications:

• Doctorate in Medicine

• Eligible for The College of Family Physicians of Canada Cert. (CCFP)

• Eligible for licensure with CPSBC

• Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is mandatory.
