The UBC Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology is seeking a Urogynecologist in the Division of GYN Specialties based at St. Paul’s Hospital. This is a clinical faculty position with the potential for promotion to an academic position upon future retirements.
The successful applicant will have privileges for the full practice of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at St. Paul’s Hospital, with hospital-based clinic space and access to the minor procedure room. They will have privileges at BC Women’s Hospital for outpatient gynecologic surgery and participation in the OASIS clinic. Active participation in the Gynecology call schedule at St. Paul’s Hospital is a requirement.
We seek a candidate with excellent surgical skills, an outstanding academic track record, and a commitment to education at undergraduate, postgraduate, and fellowship levels. In addition, providing mentorship to Department members and personal dedication to the Royal College’s focus on lifelong learning through professional development is expected.
The successful applicant must have certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) and be eligible for licensure to practice from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC. The incumbent will report to the Site Department Head of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at St. Paul’s Hospital.
This position is funded by fee for service through the Medical Services Plan of British Columbia, with stipends paid for clinical teaching.
St. Paul’s Hospital—Providence Health Care (PHC) is a major academic center for complex gynecologic surgery and Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. We are moving to the New St. Paul’s Hospital in Spring 2027. The new campus is the largest hospital redevelopment project in BC’s history. This new 11-story building with 546 beds and 16 operating rooms will be a state-of-the-art hospital and one of the most digitally advanced in Canada.
In preparation for this move and expansion of GYN services, we are developing stronger collaboration with urology, colorectal surgery, and radiology departments. The successful applicant will be a team player and have ample opportunities for self-growth, research, and leadership within the Department.
