Role and Facility Information
The Division of Urology, Department of Surgery at Kelowna General Hospital is accepting applications for a full-time urologist position. Applicants must hold an MD degree and be eligible for registration and licensure to practice medicine in British Columbia, have specialty training in urology, and be a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (Urology). The successful candidate will also have completed a specialized fellowship in urology. Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) is one of two tertiary hospitals within Interior Health and is the region’s main referral center offering a full range of services with approximately 440 beds and over 84,000 ED visits yearly. KGH is home to a full cardiac critical care centre, trauma unit with helipad, full nephrology and interventional radiology services and a teaching centre for the Southern Medical Program affiliated with UBC. KGH features 12 specialized Operating Rooms created for Thoracic, Urology, Neurosurgery, Vascular, Plastics, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Ears Nose and Throat, Orthopedics, General and Trauma surgeries and Cardiac Surgery.

The successful candidate will be expected to equivalently share resources (i.e. operative time, cystoscopy, and ambulatory care) and responsibilities (i.e. 1 in 4 call coverage for Kelowna and surrounding area, administration of educational programs and relevant department committees) with 3 other urologists with sub-specialty training in endourology, uro-oncology, and reconstructive urology. Subspecialty training in pediatrics and/or infertility would be advantageous but not required. Qualified candidates would be eligible for Fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC), have Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) coverage and be licensed with the College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC). Compensation is fee for service.
The anticipated start date for the position is July 1, 2023, or upon a date to be mutually agreed.
