Clinic Details — Royal Avenue Withdrawal Site, The Bridge
The Royal Avenue Withdrawal Management Site is one of two community based medical withdrawal management facilities in Kelowna. This 2500 sq. ft. facility is newly built and its 8 single occupancy bedrooms are expected to support to 400+ admissions annually. It is adjacent to Kelowna General Hospital, the region’s largest acute care site which creates opportunity for collaboration and connection with colleagues and supports. The service is staffed by a dedicated team of Licensed Practical Nurses, Withdrawal Management Workers, and Recovery Care Workers who work in partnership with a seasoned group of Addiction Medicine Physicians.
Practice Details:
Excellent opportunity for an Addiction Medicine Physician to join the Royal Ave Withdrawal Management team. This is a withdrawal management site delivered by The Bridge Youth & Family Services Society supported by Interior Health contract funding. The successful applicant will work with the current physician group, as well as be part of a multi-disciplinary team of nurses and social workers.
The successful applicant will provide the following services:
- prescribe medications for the management of withdrawal, including controlled medications (i.e. methadone, slow release oral morphine, buprenorphine/naloxone, benzodiazepines, etc.);
- provide direct patient care such as assessments of all new patients within 48 hours of admission,
- provide medical consultation and development of treatment plans for patients admitted to the facility; including prescribing, monitoring and reviewing patients’ home medications
- Provides discharge planning and approval for each patient
- Provide indirect patient care such as maintaining clinical records.
- Act as a medical consultant to facility and medical staff;
- Participate in the evaluation of the efficiency, quality and delivery of the services, including and without limited to participation in medical audits, peer and interdisciplinary reviews, chart reviews, and incident report reviews.
