Central Okanagan Maternity Clinic:
The COMC is a full-service perinatal clinic staffed by Family Physicians (FPs), Registered Midwives (RMs), Registered Nurses (RNs), Social Workers (SWs), and Medical Office Assistants (MOAs). The clinic is conveniently located on the Kelowna General Hospital campus in Kelowna with accessible parking, and adjunct services such as NST, ultrasound, labor and delivery (L&D), and the perinatal unit. We are supported by our group of 9 Obstetricians who provide shared consultative care. We have 24/7 on call support from Obstetrics and Pediatrics at KGH, with a level 4 NICU.
There are currently three Patient Medical Homes (PMHs) with Family Physicians who offer full-service maternity care for their attached patients in the community: Strathcona, Mill Creek, and Guisachan. In addition, there are two midwifery clinics: Ponderosa and Westside Maternity Care. Other PMHs provide limited service such as pre- or post-natal care but do not do labor and delivery. The providers at COMC form the on call rotations to support delivery of babies and inpatient obstetrical care.
Candidates must demonstrate a patient-centered and collaborative, team-based approach to care delivery. Clear, respectful communication with patients, families, team members, leadership and external partners is required to work effectively and efficiently within the clinic and in alignment with the organization’s values, vision and mission.
A Physician at the Central Okanagan Maternity Clinic means working a rewarding day shift and then heading down to Okanagan Lake for a sunset paddleboard or kayak before grabbing dinner at one of the many outstanding restaurants in Kelowna. On a day off you can cycle along the Kettle Valley Rail Trail or take a hike to discover stunning views of the Okanagan Valley.
