This well-established role is an excellent opportunity for any NP but particularly a new graduate as there is a senior NP to provide mentorship and supervision during the provisional period. This is full-scope rural practice – NPs here have traditionally provided a lot of the women’s health, prenatal care, chronic disease management, and more recently OAT to Burns Lake and its surrounding communities. NPs are highly valued in the community and sought after by patients as they have built an excellent reputation for themselves.

Burns Lake is a village of 4,000 located in the Lakes District area. Real estate is very affordable, and includes a lot of lake frontage. Burns Lake features world-class mountain biking, excellent cross-country ski trails, endless lakes with all of the outdoors options found on those. It is a 2.5 hour drive to Prince George (Costco) or a 1.5 hour drive to Smithers (Ski resort, airport). Other NPs have found it a great community for raising kids with many opportunities for a town of its size.
