About the Role:
The Rocky Mountain Health Centre (RMHC) is seeking a full-scope rural family practitioner to join our collegial and supportive 6-physician practice. The ideal candidate will participate in clinical work, Emergency Department (ED), hospital, and residential care. Hospital coverage is a shared responsibility among our physician group, typically required for two weeks annually. ED (8-hour) shifts are shared among 12 physicians, allowing flexibility to drop or swap calls. There is also the opportunity to become involved with Obstetrical care. Our clinic uses Intrahealth Profile EMR and benefits from excellent support staff, including a chronic disease RN, Primary Maternity Care RN, and community social worker. Our patient population includes seniors, chronic disease patients, young families, athletes, and seasonal tourists. Our Medical Staff Association offers programs focused on engaging physicians and supporting their continuing education needs.

Teaching and Locum Opportunities:
RMHC offers excellent teaching potential and is affiliated with UBC Medical School, regularly hosting medical students and residents. Fernie offers locum opportunities for physicians wanting to explore our outdoors! RMHC can guarantee as much work as desired for up to 3.0 Full time equivalent positions (FTE) across permanent, part time, short - or long - term locum work arrangements within our 6-physician practice.

Hospital and Enhanced Medical Services:
The Elk Valley Hospital, a 20-bed facility, serves a population of 15,000 across Elkford, Sparwood, Fernie, and South Country. Physicians cover their in-patients on weekdays, with the option for a duty doctor on weekends and holidays. The operating theatre is available 24/7. Enhanced medical services in Fernie include 1 gastroenterologist, 4 GP anesthetists, 1 GPESS, and 2 GPOSS. Our regional referral center, East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook, provides excellent specialty and radiology support. Our maternity providers serve 110-130 patients annually.
