Role and Facility Information
This is a full time established practice in a well-equipped 10 doctor clinic. It is located on the mainland 120 km northwest of Vancouver. The community offers many activities for the outdoor enthusiasts with many, parks, beaches, lakes and hiking and mountain bike trails, there is also a local Academy of Music and outstanding cultural and recreational facilities.
Thanks to one of the mildest climates in Canada, gardening, golfing and fishing are year-round activities in Powell River. Add in a thriving arts and cultural community, and spectacular West Coast scenery, and you’ll see why those who visit want to stay! Powell River is just 134 km northwest of Vancouver and accessible by car and ferry (five hours) and air (half an hour).
Forestry, tourism and fishing are the major industries. The town is large enough to offer every amenity to its 20,000 inhabitants, but small enough to maintain a friendly community ambiance. Residents enjoy world-class fishing, hiking, diving, canoeing, sailing, walking and kayaking.

Rural Retention Program (RRP)
• $13,668.48 annually- must practice at least 9 months and bill the minimum
• 8.82% fee premium*
Rural Continuing Medical Education (RCME)
• $0 during first 2 years in the community
• $2,200 (FPs) or $3,000 (SPs) annually in 3rd/4th year (issued quarterly)
• $4,400 (FPs) or $6,000 (SPs) annually in 5th+ years (issued quarterly)
Recruitment Incentive Fund (RIF)
• $10,000 for physicians filling open Physicians Supply Plan positions in qathet (prorated for <1.0 FTE)
Recruitment Contingency Fund (RCF)
• Assists with moving expenses based on area relocating from: $9,000 (within BC) $12,000 (within Canada) $15,000 (outside of Canada)
