Role and Facility Information
Kamloops
Kamloops is a vibrant city of 100,000, at the northern extension of productive wine country in south central British Columbia. We sit in the middle of lakes, mountains, ski hills, and river systems. We enjoy biking, hiking, skiing, water sports, all right here in our backyard. Our community has an excellent educational system, organized sports, music and theatre. There are amenities not often found in small urban centres. University affiliations provide rejuvenation and an atmosphere to keep learning. Blue skies, endless sunshine, spectacular landscapes and friendly, welcoming people make Kamloops the natural place to call home and experience life to the fullest.

A dynamic, collegial and lifestyle oriented 32 person group is looking to add additional team members, and encourage both full time and part time applicants.
We work under an APP contract for emergency and a MOCAP contract for our Trauma Team Leader (TTL) program, working 14 shifts a month between the two programs (if you are full time). This leaves plenty of time to take advantage of the outdoor wonderland that surrounds Kamloops. Enjoy skiing at Sun Peaks or the back country, mountain biking year round, beautiful lakes, golf courses and world class sports facilities in the Tournament Capital Centre. And you instantly have 32 friends to do these activities with!

Our learners include 3rd year medical students doing their core rotations in our hospital, 4th year students on electives, a family practice residency program with 8 residents per year, and starting in 2023 a third year CCFP EM program with 2 residents per year.

A new Pediatric Unit opened at RIH in July 2024 which includes 9 individual rooms, including an isolation room, procedure and Outpatient Clinic rooms and amenities which are designed to enhance family centered care.
In this position you also have the opportunity to teach as RIH is a UBC site for the Faculty of Medicine including medical students and residents.
