Specialty Midwife

Role and Facility Information

Fraser Health Authority (FHA) Midwifery Division within the Regional Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology is pleased to offer temporary fellowship appointments for new registrant midwives for one year. These temporary fellowship appointments are intended to provide a one-year experience to support consolidation of knowledge and skills. FHA will consider applications from new graduates who are able to secure a commitment from an established FHA midwifery practice to work within a team mentorship framework for the full year. This mentorship should include a comprehensive orientation, regular chart review, and a plan for practical support throughout the term of the appointment.

Fraser Health Sites:

-Abbotsford Regional Hospital
-Burnaby Hospital
-Chilliwack General Hospital
-Langley Memorial Hospital
-Peace Arch Hospital
-Ridge Meadows Hospital
-Royal Columbian Hospital
-Surrey Memorial Hospital

New graduate midwives in the Midwifery Fellowship category will be granted temporary privileges at their mentor primary practice site. Please note the term of this appointment is limited to 12 months. There is no guarantee that there will be a vacancy available at the end of the year at any of the sites, and no preference regarding selections will be awarded to midwives who have held locum or temporary appointments. FHA may limit the number of Midwifery Fellowship appointments at any site due to resource availability.

Application Instructions: Interested new graduates from Canadian midwifery education programs should submit the following by March 19, 2026 (strictly enforced; no extensions will be granted.)

-CV
-Letter of Interest
