Role and Facility Information
Bring your clinical expertise and passion for providing quality care to a new and exciting role as a Nurse Practitioner supporting the Virtual Psychiatry Unit. The Virtual Psychiatry Unit is the first of its kind in B.C, providing 24/7 around the clock acute psychiatric care to patients in the comfort of their own homes.
In this primary care position, you will be part of an integrated and collaborative interdisciplinary acute care team helping patients and families access high-quality medical and psychiatric care using innovative technologies, such as iPads for virtual video visits, and remote patient monitoring devices for vital sign readings with the option for outreach or in clinic examinations when clinically indicated.
Be part of the virtual psychiatry health care team delivering holistic, trauma informed and culturally safe primary care to patients with mental illness. This is an exciting opportunity to work in an integrated team with some remote/hybrid flexibility with Fraser Health’s Virtual Hospital Program delivering inpatient hospital care safely to patients within the comforts of their own home.
Class 5 Drivers License and access to personal vehicle for business related purposes is needed for this role.
Surrey is one of Canada’s fastest growing cities and its land mass makes it one of the largest cities in the province, equal to the size of Vancouver, Richmond and Burnaby combined. Known as the City of Parks, Surrey has over 6,000 acres of parkland and 15 golf courses and driving ranges. Also, despite rapid growth, Surrey has held onto the rural flavour of its past, with about 35 per cent of its land designated as agricultural and still actively farmed.
This is a great opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner to join a well supported program to help consolidate clinical skills. Be part of our clinical enhancement program with regular in-house skills development such as suturing and x-ray interpretation in addition to receiving centralized NP orientation.
This position will also have a new and exciting postgraduate up to 6-month nurse practitioner residency program. FH is the first health authority to implement a formal residency program for NPs in the province, which will be key to supporting the development of NPs and practice-readiness in select programs. You will receive in depth in house advanced training within a clinical area relevant to the position, improve your team collaboration and develop a model of patient centred care. This is your opportunity to consolidate your nurse practitioner education with a team helping to support your successful transition into independent practice.
During your residency, you’ll receive:
Mentorship in multiple clinical areas
Dedicated clinical supervision during clinical placements
Protected time for self directed learning relevant to your clinical practice
Coaching from a consistent experienced nurse practitioner throughout your residency
Individualized support in transitioning to independent provider
