We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our Critical Care Team at Abbotsford Regional Hospital (ARH) in Abbotsford, B.C. As part of this role the NP works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team with a coordinated approach to ensure safe, effective, and timely care for patients. ARH’s Critical Care is a dynamic team that focuses on Adult Critical Care in a combined 20 bed closed unit, comprised of 10 ICU and 10 High Acuity beds, supported by a team of intensivists, Nurse Practitioners, Critical Care RNs, Respiratory Therapists and Allied Health professionals.

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Nurse Practitioner position is designed as an acute care NP role with aim to work in a collaborative manner in a team setting. The primary goal is to provide supportive care from an acute NP perspective to a defined population of patients admitted to the ICU at ARH.

Develop an understanding of managing critically ill patients and their needs
Respond and assist to any on unit medical emergencies or code blues
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team on patient’s journey
Be proficient in complex assessment, diagnosis, and treatment/ management planning.
Work along side with an experienced, collaboratively, and supportive ICU NP
Specifically, you will gain experience:

Complex discharge planning/transfers planning and advanced clinical decision making for patients with multiple comorbidities, chronic diseases, and variable social needs
Working in a team-based environment with a specialized interdisciplinary team to prevent deterioration and improve quality of life
Referral and consultation to and with specialists and in accessing community resources. Your experience in a high-intensity critical care setting and ability to mange acutely ill patients along with your autonomy in clinical practice will be the keys to your success as a Nurse Practitioner, Critical Care.

Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre is a 280 bed, University of British Columbia affiliated hospital offering medical, surgical, obstetrics, inpatient pediatrics, renal, cardiology, tertiary palliative care, helipad, as well as 24/7 emergency services with nearly 80,000 visits annually. We are currently looking for a Nurse Practitioner to join us working with Internal Medicine Services across Abbotsford Regional Hospital.
